Part Number(s):
Option Part# AP858A
Spare Part# 601775-001
Assembly Part# 604086-001
Model# ST3300657SS
Overview:
The HPE MSA2/MSA2000 controller enclosures and large form factor expansion enclosures are designed to accept unique HPE SAS disk drive modules with distinct firmware and trays compared to other HPE storage arrays and Proliant servers. These disk drives come with SAS interposers attached to the rear, converting the native dual-port SAS interface to an SCA-40 connector. Although the SCA-40 connector has the same form as a Fibre Channel (FC) connector, the drives do not utilize the FC protocol. A closer look at the interposer reveals a relatively simple circuitry without a bridge or translator chip. The interposer primarily functions as a signal filter and port relocater to connect to the MSA2's proprietary backplane.
